Art at ArcheanWeb: Part of the Mountains and Streams Series
The Isle of Skye lies off the west coast of Scotland. It is the northernmost of the major islands of the Inner Hebrides. Skye is known for its temperamental weather, ocean fogs, and abundant rainfall, but the sun does occasionally shine. Skye View captures the island’s mountains on one of these sunny days. The original work used acrylic on canvas. Subsequently, the painting was photographed and a digital veneer added in Adobe Photoshop.
Skye connects to the Scottish mainland via a bridge and is worth a visit if you are exploring Scotland’s West Coast. For those who delight in an occasional dram of single malt, and like a smoky island taste, the Talisker Distillery lies on the island’s west side along Loch Harport. Their 18 year old offering is a classic.
Take your camera and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Remember, you are seeing the same scenery people have experienced for the past 7,000 years since Mesolithic hunter-gatherers roamed the land. The An Corran archeological site in Staffin is one of the oldest in Scotland.
